For SEMIP – CODECHAMP, whose position sensors for space applications are used in orientation, pointing and observation systems, taking part in the Summit was directly aligned with the technological challenges discussed throughout the event.
Our high-precision optical encoders are particularly suited to mechanisms requiring accurate, stable and reliable angular position measurement.

An international event for a rapidly evolving space industry

For its first edition, the International Space Summit brought together governments, space agencies, scientists, major industrial groups and New Space companies in Paris.
The event resulted in 51 announcements representing around €20 billion, including approximately €5 billion in contracts and investments, as well as €15.7 billion linked to the European IRIS² constellation concession.
These announcements reflect the wide range of transformations currently reshaping the space sector: access to space, telecommunications, Earth observation, space-based data, equipment, industrial capabilities, in-orbit services, exploration and security.

New space programmes are increasing demand for critical equipment

Several announcements made during the Summit highlighted the expansion of European space infrastructure and programmes.
Arianespace, for example, announced new agreements involving Ariane 6 and international partners. The European IRIS² programme is also moving forward: its low-Earth-orbit constellation is expected to include 330 satellites, with the objective of providing Europe with its own secure and resilient satellite connectivity infrastructure.
Earth observation was another major topic. Several partnerships announced during the Summit concern new constellations, infrared payloads and imaging systems designed for applications such as infrastructure monitoring, natural resource management and climate risk anticipation.
This growing activity also reinforces a key industrial challenge: ensuring access to components and subsystems capable of meeting the precision, reliability and lifetime requirements of space missions.

SEMIP – CODECHAMP: position sensing technologies for space mechanisms

This is precisely where SEMIP – CODECHAMP’s expertise comes into play.
Within a satellite, position measurement is required across a wide range of critical mechanisms. SEMIP – CODECHAMP technologies can support applications such as attitude and orientation control systems, solar array drive mechanisms, antenna and payload pointing systems, as well as certain observation instruments.
Codechamp optical encoders provide highly accurate and stable angular position measurement. They are particularly relevant for space mechanisms such as SADM (Solar Array Drive Mechanisms), CMG (Control Moment Gyros) and AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control Systems).
In these applications, position measurement directly contributes to pointing accuracy, satellite stability and the overall performance of onboard instruments.

Precision and reliability for demanding space environments

Space equipment must maintain its performance in environments where maintenance opportunities are extremely limited.
Vacuum conditions, radiation, thermal cycling, vibrations and integration constraints all place specific demands on onboard components. SEMIP – CODECHAMP sensors are designed for demanding environments where long-term measurement stability and reliability are essential.
This expertise also applies to Earth observation systems. In these applications, positioning accuracy directly affects acquisition quality: reducing pointing errors and instability contributes to improving the accuracy and reliability of the data collected.

Supporting the transformation of the space industry

The International Space Summit also highlighted the rapid evolution of the space value chain. Alongside major institutional programmes, new constellations, in-orbit services and international industrial partnerships are continuing to emerge.
One section of the Summit announcements was specifically dedicated to equipment manufacturers at the heart of international value chains, with agreements covering communication systems, navigation equipment, payloads, propulsion technologies and satellite interconnection systems.
For SEMIP – CODECHAMP, participating in events such as the International Space Summit provides an opportunity to stay closely connected to developments across the sector, engage with key stakeholders and better understand the future requirements of space programmes.
This presence is fully aligned with the company’s ongoing development of high-precision sensing solutions for critical systems and next-generation space platforms.
SEMIP – CODECHAMP’s participation in the 2026 International Space Summit reflects its commitment to a space industry facing increasingly demanding requirements in terms of performance, reliability and technological sovereignty.
